All of Kazuto Tanaka’s series influence each other, displaying fresh connections regardless of their series or chronological order. His new works move back and forth freely between the present and the past. Whether as parts or as wholes, they flexibly form their own compositions, as if based on premonitions of unforeseeable events. His works do not contrast “painting vs. photography” or “new vs. old,” but emerge as these distinctions become transparent. Here, Tanaka demonstrates his current pursuit of abstraction.
