This event has ended.

It is a well known fact that Yasunari Kawabata (1899-1972), a Nobel Prize winner in Literature, and Kaii Higashiyama(1908-99), a leading figure of Japanese painting, maintained a strong friendship. In recent years, letters of correspondence between them have been discovered. These documents have attracted much attention since they reveal personal exchanges between two major artists.
This exhibition follows the the Yasunari Kawabata exhibition held in 2002 that shed light on Kawabata as an art collector. This exhibition features letters and Kawabata's words, as well as artworks that he collected.

お二人の親交の深さに新鮮な驚きを感じました。
東山魁夷の作品は本当にすばらしく、特に京都を題材にしたものが多く出展されていて、身近に感じられてよかったです
